Hi,
I’m Shirin. I was diagnosed with transfusion-dependent beta thalassemia since I was six months old and have been receiving blood transfusions every month since then (35+ years). Despite my illness I managed to complete school and pursued my passion as a nurse. I worked tirelessly in a healthcare setting until my health necessitated a shift to a corporate job. However, the most profound and heart-wrenching aspect of my journey has been the stark realization that my condition prevents me from experiencing the joys of motherhood. I wasn’t sure what I was going to do or what would happen until, later in life, I found the love of my life- Zai. We began journey to parenthood and despite our unwavering hopes, our journey has been marked by profound sorrow – two years, two IUI, two IVF treatments, two difficult miscarriages, and a total of five emotionally taxing (failed) embryo transfers. Each setback is a heavy burden on our hearts.

Adding to our already formidable challenges is the crushing weight of debt, from lingering school loans to mounting IVF medical bills, making the dream of having a family seem increasingly more stressful and difficult.

That is why we are seeking financial assistance to navigate this challenging path again, with the hope of bringing new life into this world and nurturing them to become wholesome individuals who can make a positive difference in the world.
